1. Read Acts 21:21-24. Why did the elders of the early church feel it was necessary for Paul to participate in this cleansing ritual?
2. Can you think of a time when you took a step of obedience in submitting to an expectation for the good of someone else? How did it turn out?
3. Notice that Paul’s effort seems to be in vain as he’s arrested anyway. Read Acts 22:1-3. Why do you think the crowd finally listened to Paul?
4. In Acts 22:1-21, what is the content of Paul’s message? What is the primary focus of his address to the crowd?
5. Read Acts 23:1-2. Why was Ananias so indignant about what Paul said? What does it have to do with the condition of Paul’s heart? Ananias’ heart?
6. Would it be possible for you to say (as Paul did) that you have “lived your life before God in good conscious up to this day?”
