Saturday 3:25 AM

In this passage of God’s Word we see two faithful individuals that understand the gravity behind Jesus’ birth. As we take a look at them in this story from God’s Word, we realize that they understand:

1. Jesus was the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan for all of mankind
Luke 2:29-32, 2 Pet. 3:9, 1 Tim. 2:1-4

2. Everyone must choose where he or she stands with Jesus
Luke 2:33-35, Matt. 12:30, Luke 11:30, Rom. 1:18-22

3. Our relationship with Jesus is not something to keep to ourselves
Luke 1:54-55, Matt. 5:16, 7:12, Prov. 11:25-26
Reflection Questions

1. After taking a look at Simeon’s and Anna’s story here in chapter 2 of the Gospel of Luke, what stands out to you the most? If you’re familiar with the story, did you notice anything that you haven’t noticed before? How can this passage of God’s Word help you to understand Christmas better this year?

2. Simeon obviously was very faithful in his prayer life, and in this passage of Scripture, God answered his prayer. Have you prayed for something for a long period of time and then had God answer that prayer? What was it and how did it affect your relationship with the Lord?

3. Anna understood the importance of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to other people. As we talked about the importance of doing the same thing, who did the Lord bring to your mind to talk to? Spend some time in prayer for that person and ask God to start softening their heart now for whatever it is that He has for them. Pray for divine opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them.

4. What practical step(s) can you take to better share the Gospel with others? What would it look like in your life to be able to share the Gospel with the people that God has placed in your life? Create a picture in your mind of what that could look like. What do you need to do to better accomplish that? Who will keep accountable to accomplishing that?

In-Person Service Update

Thank you for your continual faithfulness and flexibility during these times. We especially appreciate those 8+ years old wearing their mask when not seated 6+ feet away from those outside of their household. Please remember, no offering plates will be passed; instead we ask you to give online or via the giving box near the gym entrance. Tables are set up in the back row of the gym for families with young children. We also kindly ask you to use the restroom before you come to ensure that our restrooms are as clean as possible for those who need to use them.
