New City Catechism, Scripture Reading, Sermon
New City Catechism | Q48: What is the church?
Answer: God chooses and preserves for himself a community elected for eternal life and united by faith, who love, follow, learn from, and worship God together. God sends out this community to proclaim the gospel and prefigure Christ’s kingdom by the quality of their life together and their love for one another.

Answer: Christ rose bodily from the grave on the third day after his death and is seated at the right hand of the Father, ruling his kingdom and interceding for us, until he returns to judge and renew the whole world.

“Faith, the work of the Holy Spirit, fashions a different mind and different attitudes, and makes an altogether new human being. Therefore, faith is an active, difficult, and powerful thing. If we want truly to consider what it really is, it is something done to us rather than something that we do; for it changes the heart and the mind.” - Martin Luther
"Even though we have only a little spark of grace, let us not lose courage. Rather, let us pray to God that He may add to this little which He has begun, and that He may make us to believe and that He may confirm us, until we are brought to perfection, from which we are still very far." - John Calvin
