The purpose of this devotional is to help prepare you fro the celebration of the birth of Jesus. You may do this as your own quiet time, but we would encourage you to gather some family or loved ones to go through it together.

If someone were to ask you today “who is Jesus” what would your answer be?

In our world today many people are missing out on the blessings of knowing Jesus. As we study the scriptures, we learn who Jesus was and is today. In Matthew 22, the Pharisees missed knowing who Jesus was because He wasn’t what they thought He should be.

If we were to ask a crowd today who Jesus is, here is a list of answers we might get:

- A healer of the sick and crippled

- A wise teacher

- A nice person

- A good example

- A close friend

- A good luck charm

When Jesus asked the Pharisees, “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose Son is He?” They said the Son of David. Then Jesus asked them a hard question, “If David called his Son, “Lord”, how can he be David’s son if David calls him Lord?” The Pharisees could not answer that question. After that, they stopped questioning Jesus for good.

That is why it is so important to know and study God’s Word so if someone tries to argue or question the scripture we will be able to give the correct answer because we have hidden God’s word in our heart.
