What do you have in your house?
II Kings 4:1 NIV
The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But know his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

II Kings 4:2 NIV
Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”
II Kings 4:2 NIV
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”
God is only able to multiply what we are willing to surrender.
We are so quick to downplay the things that we have in our house as small, insignificant, unworthy, inefficient, and not enough.
What can I do?
What do I have to offer?
What difference could I possibly make in the world?
What weight dies my voice carry?
What do I have to offer?
What difference could I possibly make in the world?
What weight dies my voice carry?
Hebrews 11 The Message
…the fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see.

II Kings 4:3 NIV
"Elisha said, 'Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don't just ask for a few.

II Kings 4:4 NIV
Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each jar is filled, put it to one side.’"

When we choose to focus on the legacy of God's faithfulness instead of the logic of our limits, we are able to see the power of God at work in our story.
No one will see what God can do in their lives if we don't allow him to first work in ours.
II Kings 4:5 NIV
"She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.
"She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring.
II Kings 4:6 NIV
When all of the jars were full, she said to her son, 'Bring me another one.' But he replied, 'There is not a jar left.' Then the oil stopped flowing.”

Miracles are the powerful combination of faith and action partnered with surrender and obedience.
II Kings 4:7 NIV
"She went and told the man of God, and he said, 'Go sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.'"
"She went and told the man of God, and he said, 'Go sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.'"
Malachi 8:10 NIV
"Test me in this and see if I don't open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams.”
"Test me in this and see if I don't open up heaven itself to you and pour out blessings beyond your wildest dreams.”
Choose each day to be a powerful example of God's love and miraculous movement of God's grace wherever we are, because we serve a God that can turn any grave into a garden.
For Discussion:
1.What’s in your house (literally or figuratively) that God could use if you were willing to make it available?
2.What emotion threw itself in front of you when you considered acting on your answer to the first question (fear, greed, shame, etc.)?
3.Would you be willing to ask God for the courage to open your hands so that he could open his?
