God gave his people a living example of his relentless love sometime in the 6th or 7th century before Christ by calling one of his own prophets to marry a woman known to be a harlot.
- Why?
Because at this time in history, Israel was playing a harlot.
- Abraham was an idolater when God called him.
- Jacob, a liar and a cheat.
- Judah, a dishonest immoral murderer.
- Moses a murderer.
- Saul an idolater.
- David an adulterer.
- Solomon an addict.
And the list goes on and on.
Israel up to this point has never been the ideal and faithful bride.
But God loved her.
- He joined himself to her to reveal to her His relentless love, in spite of her promiscuity.
