Can You Lose Your Salvation In Christ?Salvation offered in Christ is eternal: our acceptance of that offer _______.

It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened . . .who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. . , Hebrews 6:4-6.

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God, Hebrews 10:26.

We believe, although we have experienced regeneration, it is possible to depart from grace and fall into sin.(The Confession of Faith of the EUB Church Article IX – “Justification and Regeneration”.)
How Do We Avoid Losing Our Salvation?
A problem enters in when we begin to call sin by other, ___________ words.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9.

Christians need to stop using synonyms for sin and call it what God calls it. When we do, our fellowship with Him can be restored. The believer remains subject to temptation and prone to fall because human desires are still there. Whatever stage of faith one is at, there remains still the possibility to sin. Having walked in faith, on can still sin. But God’s grace is available to empower one to choose to _____________.(Thomas Oden, John Wesley’s Teachings, Vol. 2, 77)

We pray for the Holy Spirit to continue the process of _____________.

If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life, 1 John 5:16.
If we are not heedful of the way the Spirit of God works in us, we will become spiritual ___________.

There is ______________ as “proud holiness.”

Is There Unpardonable Sin?

There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that, 1 John 5:16.

Don’t all sins lead to _________? The wages of sin is death, Romans 6:23.

The sin unto death is when one _________ in sin and doesn’t see anything ________ with it.

“Backsliding” from the faith is really a _______ of the power of the Holy Spirit in one’s life.Read Mark 3:28-29.
Is There Hope For “Backsliders”?

Sin needs the cleansing of the blood of ________.

Our pardon hinges on conscious readiness ___________ God’s forgiveness.

Read Matthew 18:21-22 and Matthew 19:26.
Sanctification Is God’s Will

God won’t _________ on you or anyone. It is God’s will that you should be sanctified, 1 Thessalonians 4:3.

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:3-4.

Expand
This year we will be hosting a trunks only Trunk-or-Treat event, October 31 at 3PM. Trunk hosts decorate their trunk and pass out candy to the children who will come (most in costume). We need 4 more trunk hosts and 10-12 people who will welcome our honored guests, help them check in on their smart phones and direct them toward the trunk area. If you can assist with this, please email Andrew: andrew.irvin@fumcbakersfield.org. Also, we still need lots of candy! You may drop off candy donations at church any time during regular business hours.
