Pastor Jonathan talked about the problem of “more” vs. “enough”. Why do you think most people in America struggle with the concept of “enough”?
Everyone struggles with comparison at some level in life. Thinking about stuff and possessions, what’s something you often struggle with comparing what you have to others?
What does it mean to become more “Compare Aware?” How often do you compare what you have to others?
Discuss the difference between unhealthy comparison and healthy ambition, desire, and drive to grow, change, and improve oneself.
Give an example of when comparison has gotten the best of you, leading to a poor financial decision or producing anxiety in you.
As you read Paul’s experience with contentment in the above passage, what stands out to you?
Paul shared that he discovered contentment came through the power and strength of Christ. How do you think praying, “Jesus, help me…” would empower you to be more content and compare less often?
Talk about potential reasons why we might have what we do and why we might not have what we don’t.
Finish this sentence out loud to your group: “I need Jesus to help me become more content and stop comparing ____________ with others.”
Close in prayer.
