More than an Experience

I. The Present-Day Ministry of the Holy Spirit

PRINCIPLE 1: Relating to and Interacting with the Holy Spirit is One of the Most Important, Fundamental Truths of the Christian Life.
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
The Ministry of the Holy Spirit Opens Our Lives to the Supernatural, Empowering Us to Receive Miracles, Signs and Wonders.
A. Embracing the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:17 (NKJV)‘Andit shall come to pass in the last days, says God,; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.
The Holy Spirit is More than Something to Experience; He is the Third Person of the Trinity, the One who Jesus said would Come Alongside to Comfort, Help and Empower Us.

B. Resisting the Holy Spirit
Acts 7:51 (NLT) “You stubborn people! You are heathen at heart and deaf to the truth. Must you forever resist the Holy Spirit?That’s what your ancestors did, and so do you!
The Holy Spirit’s Ministry, including Spiritual Gifts and Manifestations, has not Passed Away and is Still Essential to Our Spiritual Life.
1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) …the natural mandoes not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know
II. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit is for Today

A. The Same Yesterday Today and Forever
Hebrews 13:8–9 (NKJV)8 Jesus Christ 9 Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines…
PRINCIPLE 1: It is Vital that We at Believer’s Life do not Reduce the Ministry and Gifts of the Holy Spirit that are in the Bible to Things that Existed Two Thousand Years Ago, They are for Today!
B. The Church is Empowered by the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me,,,”
PRINCIPLE 2: As a Church, it’s Important to Embrace the Promise of the Father; The Holy Spirit Empowers the Church to be the Body of Christ on the Earth Today.
III. The Holy Spirit Opens Up the Super-Natural
A. The Ministry of Philip
Acts 8:5–6 (NKJV)5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded (believed and acted)the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
PRINCIPLE 3: Philip Preached the Word with the Demonstration and Power of the Holy Spirit where Signs, Wonders and Miracles Followed.
B. The Holy Spirit Draws People to Jesus
Acts 8:12–13 (NKJV)12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon (the False Prophet) himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.
PRINCIPLE 4:The Pattern in the New Testament of Signs, Wonders and Miracles is What Draws People to Jesus.
C. The Spirit’s Presence and Power Validate God’s Word
Mark 16:20 (NKJV)they(the disciples) went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with Amen.
D. The Demonstration of the Spirit and His Power
1 Corinthians 2:3–5 (NKJV)3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
PRINCIPLE 5:God’s Word should be Preached in the Demonstration of God’s Power and the Authority of the Holy Spirit, not Words Only!
IV. Cooperating with the Ministry of the Holy Spirit Today
A. The God of All Comfort
PRINCIPLE 6: People Today are Struggling with All Types of Problems and Oppression; the Only Answer is that God is not just for Eternity, He is for Today.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (NKJV)3 Blessed 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
PRINCIPLE 7: Christianity is not just for One Glad Morning when We Fly Away; the Holy Spirit is Here Today to Help and Comfort Us, if We Embrace and Cooperate with Him.
B. The Relevance of Holy Spirit
John 16:5–7 (NKJV)7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
PRINCIPLE 8: Having a Life-Giving Relationship with the Holy Spirit is More Vital for Our Christian Walk than having Jesus with Us Right now, in His Physical Body!
