BEING A DISCIPLE OF JESUS BY LOVING THE WAY HE LOVED US.

How Jesus loved: Seemed inconsistent
How Jesus loved: Seemed confusing
How Jesus loved: Seemed unfair

If we try to resolve this tension, we lose the ability to love the way Jesus called us to love

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us

John 1:14 We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Grace and Truth: The tension we try to solve and resolve

Full: Not some truth and some grace but ALL of both

John 1:16. Out of his fullness, we have all received grace in place of grace already given

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses;

John 1:17 grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Not the balance between, but the full measure of . . .  

Jesus the full embodiment of grace and truth

If you want to know what Jesus meant when he said to love one another, then watch how Jesus loved

Jesus called “sin,” sin
Jesus paid for our sin with his own life Jesus did not condemn us
Jesus declared: “Leave your life of sin”

I don’t condemn you. You can be free.

Need truth or sin will get you Need grace because we still sin
