Overview of Israel’s History
The tribes of Israel fail to drive out the foreign nations from the land of Canaan
Lesson #1:
Disbelief leads to disobedience, which leads to disaster

Disbelief->Disobedience->Disaster
The Israelites failed to completely drive out their enemies because they didn’t trust God to do what He said He would do.

“I will give you every place where you set your foot…” Joshua 1:3

“The Lord your God himself will drive them out of your way. He will push them out before you, and you will take possession of their land…” Joshua 23:5

Israel: “God, we can’t drive them out.”

God: “It’s not that you can’t, but that you won’t.”
In what areas of my life am I telling God, “I can’t,” and He is saying, “It’s not that you can’t…you won’t”?
Whenever we say, “I can’t,” it becomes an area of defeat in our lives.

We’re relying on our ability to obey instead of trusting God to provide us with His strength, power, and grace to overcome our issues.
When we walk by faith, we’ll go from…

Disbelief->Disobedience->Disaster

to

Belief->Obedience->Blessing

Lesson #2:
Amnesia leads to apostasy

Apostasy: “The abandonment or renunciation of a religious belief”
know = yada

yada = intimate knowledge
yada = intimate knowledge

They were mentally aware of Israel’s history and God, but their knowledge didn’t affect their heart or lifestyle.
As parents, it’s our responsibility to disciple (train) our children to follow Jesus.
What am I doing to disciple my kids?
Judges is not a story without hope
and neither is yours.
Judges is not a story without hope.

“Then the Lord raised up judges, who saved them out of the hands of their enemies.”
