WHY DO I NEED GOD IN MY LIFE?
EVERYONE NEEDS JESUS.
10 Reasons We Need God
1. He alone gives eternal life.
“Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.” Ephesians 2:1 - 2
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
2. He provides us with everything we need.
“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.” Matthew 6:31 - 32
3. He alone can forgive our sins.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
4. He sends the Holy Spirit to be our helper.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26
“But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.” Romans 8:9
5. He gives us the strength in our weakness.
“Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:8 - 9
6. He gives us wisdom.
“Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.” Proverbs 28:26
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy.” Jude 1:24
7. He protects us.
“For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.” Psalm 27:5
8. He makes us a new person.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
“He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5
9. He fills us with peace.
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
10. He frees us from being slaves to sin.
“Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.” Acts 13:38 - 39
“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” Colossians 1:13
Three Simple Statements We Have to Acknowledge:
1. God owns everything; we own nothing.
2. Our lives are broken because of sin.
3. If God doesn’t help us, we’re sunk.
“This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.” Psalm 34:6
“Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3
You’ll never know if Jesus is all you need until Jesus is all you have.
