UPDATE: As you may already know, Youth Group will begin meeting in person every week, starting this week (10/7). We will be meeting in person every Wednesday night from 6:00pm-7:30pm. We have found that starting youth group at 6pm and ending at 7:30 has been more convenient for kids because they can have enough time after youth group to get any homework done that they need to.
We will continue to offer youth group online as well. However, we are going to move the online service to Thursday nights at 6:00pm. The reason behind that is because we are going to record the live, in person service on Wednesday nights, and we will post it on Thursday's. We feel that, this way, the students who have to watch online can be more part of the in person service. Students watching online get to see the whole service, including our student led worship as well.
This is effective immediately. Starting this week, we will not have an online service available on Wednesday night, but it WILL be offered on Thursday night at 6:00pm.
ThornCreek Student Ministries mission is to create a safe place for students to encounter Jesus, ask questions, process struggles and to experience the love of God while ultimately integrating them into the body and mission of Jesus Christ.
WEEKLY PROGRAMS
ENCOUNTER | Wednesday 6:00pm-7:30pm (SEE UPDATE ABOVE)
This is our midweek Youth Group service. At Encounter, we have food, games, deep Bible study, student led worship and small groups. We believe that we are better when we are together.
SOUL FUEL | Soul Fuel was our Sunday Morning program for Middle and High School Students. We have decided not to start Soul Fuel back up again. The reason behind this is that we ultimately want to connect Jr. and Sr. High students to the greater body and mission of Jesus, which is, His Bride. We feel that it is absolutely essential in the spiritual development of teenagers to be comfortable with, involved in and in love with The Church as a whole, not just the youth ministry. When we offer a youth group only class at Church, we are seperating teenagers from the greater Body of Christ. The main concern with doing this is that teenagers never really get connected to, or engaged into "Big Church". The problem with this is, when they graduate from High School, they often feel like there is no place for them in the church anymore... They feel like "Big Church" is only for adults, and they feel like they no longer belong anywhere. We want to change this problem in the life of the church. We believe it is not only healthy for teenagers to worship with all ages, we feel like it is essential for their faith development.
