The Danger of Loose Living
Samson
Samson’s life reveals how God can use our imperfections to fulfill His purpose.

5 Power Lessons from Samson
1. We are called to live a Holy life.

Samson’s name means “like the sun.”

He had a special calling and consecration.

Judges 13:4-5

We have a special calling.

1 Corinthians 6:17-18

Romans 12:1-2

2. God can use bad situations to fulfill His purpose.

He disregarded his parents.

He disobeyed God.

He dulled his spiritual senses.
3. We reap what we sow.

God has set in motion the immutable spiritual law in the universe. If you choose to break the law of God, bad consequences will follow. Though God can forgive you, the consequences of your actions will affect you.

Galatians 6:7

4. Choose your spouse wisely and spiritually.

We have seen in the life of Samson the tragic consequences of his decisions. He decided to choose a mate from the land of Timnah, a woman from daughters of Philistines (Judges 14:2). The parents of Samson saw the foolishness of his choice and told him, “Is there no woman among the daughters of your brethren, or among all of my people, that you must go and get a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” (Judges 14:3)

2 Corinthians 6:14-16

5. Use your strength for God’s work (not your own will).

As strong as Samson was, we must remember that his strength comes from God. Without God, he is as strong as any ordinary man.

Even in our moments of weakness God can still use us.

2 Corinthians 12:9
