RECAP: The Divided States of America
In this series, we are looking for a better way forward for our lives & our country as we live in the Divided States of America. Today we talked about how we can respond to divisive situations. We can be overly concerned about our rights or being right. That leaves our relationships broken and our lives full of anger, frustration and anxiety. The book of Philippians guides us to have a humble mindset like Christ. We talked about not standing on issues but walking with people through the issues.
GROUP QUESTIONS
1. How have you personally felt the divisiveness in our country?
2. What is the most common attitude you experience for people?
3. Read Philippians 2:1-4. What do you think it looks like to live with humility? How can we value other people?
4. Read Philippians 2:5-9. How would explain Jesus’ attitude and desires in this passage in your own words.
5. Read Philippians 2:12-16. In this passage, how do you see God working in and through your life if you live humbly?
6. In vs. 14 it says to do everything without grumbling, complaining or arguing. Why is that so difficult? When we fall into that how do you think that shifts our lives in a negative way?
7. What step to you need to take to respond to divisive situations or people with humility?
