July 15, 2018 As the forces of evil are unleashed in the midst of the tribulation, so is the Word of God, as it always has been. In Chapter 10, John sees a mighty angel sent from heaven to earth with a small open scroll. As John is commanded to take it and consume it, he is told that it is sweet in his mouth, but its effect will be a bitter stomach. So goes the Word of God, now and then too. This speaks to the bitterness that comes when the Word is spoken. There is rejection, and there is the endured persecution by the one who dares to speak. It is a good question to the church today who knows the sweetness of the Gospel: Do you know the bitterness that comes with proclaiming?
