How to Pray

John 16:25-33 ESV
A Parable is a comparison that teaches a moral or religious lesson.
There is only one interpretation of scripture, but there are many applications.
What is your favorite parable?
In John 16:26, Jesus says that we will ask in My(Jesus') Name.
"In that day you will ask in my name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf" (John 16:26)
In Galatians 3:26 we are called the Children of God.
"for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith." (Galatians 3:26)
When you ask for rain, you better bring your umbrella.
In James 4:1-3 we are told that we do not have, because you do not ask.
And in James 4:1-3 we do not receive because we ask wrongly.
"What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." (James 4:1-3)
In the Disciples Prayer (Lord’s Prayer) in Matthew 6:9-10 we are to pray to the Father, and we are to ask for His Will.
"Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:9-10)
