Sheep are Defenseless, Dumb and Directionless
Hundreds of sheep followed their leader off a cliff in eastern Turkey, plunging to their deaths this week while shepherds looked on in dismay. Four hundred sheep fell 15 metres (almost 50 feet) to their deaths in a ravine in Van province near Iran but broke the fall of another 1,100 animals who survived. Shepherds from a nearby village neglected the flock while eating breakfast, leaving the sheep to roam free. The loss to local farmers was estimated at $74,000.
Sheep leading other sheep will result in wandering and danger.
Sheep being led by the Shepherd will result in contentment and protection.
Green pastures and quiet waters are not dependent on our circumstance but on our obedience.

Green Pastures and Quiet Waters is the refreshing of your soul.
Money + Success = Green Pastures & Quiet Waters
‘Michael, you have all the money that anybody your age could ever want or need; you have a profound influence in the world; you have free time — and you’re the most miserable person I know. What’s up with that?’
- Bob Bowman, Michael Phelps Trainer
We wander off to make our own artificial turf and skymall bubbling brook
The Obedience of My Shepherd’s Voice = A Refreshed Soul
1. Oil is used for protection from outside threats.
“Bugs bug people, but they can kill sheep. Flies, mosquitoes, and gnats can turn the summer into a time of torture for the livestock. Consider nose flies, for example. If they succeed in depositing their eggs into the membrane of the sheep’s nose, the eggs become worm-like larvae, which drive the sheep insane. One shepherd explains: “For relief from this agonizing annoyance, sheep will deliberately beat their heads against trees, rocks, posts, or brush…. In extreme cases of intense infestation, a sheep may even kill itself in a frenzied endeavor to gain respite from the aggravation.”
― Max Lucado, Safe in the Shepherd's Arms: Hope & Encouragement from Psalm 23
2. Oil is used in defense against the butting heads with other sheep
