Have you ever known the right thing to do but decided not to do it?
Maybe it was something small. Like not being kind or saying hello to someone.
Or maybe it was something bigger. Like . . .
*You overheard someone making fun of your younger sister. And you could’ve stepped in and stood up for her, but you didn’t.
*One of your family members is stuck in an abusive relationship & you haven't said anything
I could list a thousand more examples, but you get the point.
Choosing to do the right thing doesn’t always come naturally, does it? Haven’t we all had an opportunity to do what’s right or to help someone else, only to find ourselves looking or walking the other way?
I think we can all agree that some people NEED our help. And during certain seasons of the year, like around Christmas or Thanksgiving—or when something significant happens in our community—we’re all more motivated to step up and help other people.
But what keeps us from being motivated to help everyone in need all of the time?
If you’re like me, being consistently motivated to help others is difficult. Why?
*Because we’re unaffected. Their problem doesn’t directly affect our lives, so why should we help?
*Because we don’t think our help really makes a difference. The problem is too big to really solve.
*We’re simply too busy living our lives. How can we possibly get involved in
someone else’s?
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
