Honor

“Wisdom is supreme. Therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7

HONOR

“A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.” Proverbs 10:1

“Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31

HOW DO WE HONOR OTHERS WELL?

Honor means value

Dishonor means to take lightly

Honoring begins with how God sees people

“And those He (God) predestined he also called; those he justified, he also glorified.” Romans 8:30

Honoring benefits me too

“Honor your father and mother – which is the first commandment with a promise. It will go well with you. And you’ll enjoy long life on the earth.”
Ephesians 6:2 - 3

Honor is given

“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.” 1 Peter 2:13 - 17

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.” Romans 12:10

THREE WAYS TO HONOR EACH OTHER:

PRIORITIZE THEM

“Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.” Proverbs 3:9

“Honor GOD with everything you own; give him the first and the best.” Proverbs 3:9 (The Message)

PRAISE THEM

“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.” James 3:9 - 10

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29 - 30

PROTECT THEM

“He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.” John 7:18
