The Kingdom - A kingdom is a governing influence of a King over his territory impacting it with his will, his purpose and intent. Producing a citizenry ofpeople who express his culture and reflect his nature.
- Myles Monroe - “Rediscovering the Kingdom”
Culture - An integrated pattern of belief, behavior, outlook, attitudes, value, morals, social norms, what you accept, what you reject and customs.
Culture simply means “way of life” or “what’s normal here”
We are born into a culture, but we are not born with a culture.
As Kingdom Citizens we should identify more with Kingdom Culture than any other culture. It takes precedence over all other cultures we grew up in.
1. KINGDOM CULTURE IS DEFINED BY THE KING
The King’s Words — what He said
“You’ve heard it said don’t kill, but I say don’t get angry.”
“You’ve heard it said don’t commit adultery, but I say don’t look.”
“You’ve heard it said don’t break vows, but I say don’t make vows.”
“You’ve heard it said you can divorce, but I say only if your spouse has been unfaithful.”
“You’ve heard it said an eye for an eye or tooth for a tooth, but I say turn the other cheek.”
“You’ve heard it said hate your enemies, but I say love them.”
The King’s Nature — who He is
We are to reflect his nature. He was sent to serve not be served. A humble servant. He washed feet. He wasn’t proud or arrogant. Full of grace and mercy.
The King’s Actions — what He did
He laid down his life for us. He was moved by compassion. He gave up his rights.
2. KINGDOM CULTURE IS SHAPED BY KINGDOM LAWS
The moral laws of the Word of God set our culture. The Word is full of kingdom culture defining how to live, how to talk, how to relate to one another.
Sin is not tolerated in Kingdom Culture. What you tolerate becomes a part of your culture
