Want to talk it over and connect this message to your everyday life? Good, us to! Change happens when we apply what learn and share it within community. Answer these questions so you can share with your Connect Group or talk it over with a personal friend.
Just Add Water. Happy Father’s Day. Every dad wants to win at life. According to Proverbs, one of the ways we win is by using our words wisely. Our words help water the seeds of life around us. So, if the lawn of your life isn’t as green as you want, just add water!
CONNECT IN CONVERSATION. [Conversation starters for your group.]
• In honor of Dads everywhere, what is your favorite “dad joke?”
• What was your favorite thing your dad cooked?
CONNECT TO THE WORD. [Read it and talk it out.]
• Read Proverbs 12. What are some of the things you noticed about the importance of our words?
• Read Proverbs 15:1? What are some examples of “harsh words?”
CONNECT WITH OTHERS. [Questions that create openness.]
• What is one compliment you’ve received that means a lot to you? Who gave you that compliment?
• Pastor said in the message that we remember what is said, but we repeat what is seen or done. What are some things you do now, that you saw your parents model?
CONNECT TO LIFE.
Which one of the following will you do this week?
• Identify a “harsh word” or phrase you will remove from your vocabulary?
• Memorize Proverbs 15:1 this week.
• Write on a notecard a positive statement you want to declare over you family.
CONNECT IN PRAYER.
God, thank you for your Word that speaks life into us. Help us to put a guard over our mouths so that we speak words of LIFE this week. Help us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. In Jesus’ Name - Amen.
