Sunday 10:15 AM

Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us. Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.
2. The text for the message this Sunday was Gal 2:15-3:14 and the focus was freedom from earning God’s love and approval. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? Which thoughts or points encouraged you orposed a challenge to you?

Galatians 2:15-19

Galatians 3:1-14

3. Read Gal 2:15-21 out loud. What questions or observations arise out of this text for you? Define “justified” and “works of the Law” (as opposed to “good works”). Based on :16, who can be justified by works of the Law? How would you restate this truth in terms that a child or a contemporary atheist might understand?
4. Focus on Gal 2:19-21. These are foundational truths for the Christ-follower. Discuss the significance of all that is packed into these 3 verses.
How are you doing at “not living, but Christ living in you?” Growing in the ability of letting Christ work through us is key to a mature Christian life. Share your growth journey and your growth desires in this area.
5. Focus on Gal 3:1-5. What seems to have happened in the Galatian church? Has this ever been part of your experience? How can religious conformity creep into the freedom we have in Christ? Discuss Gal 3:6-14 – the illustration of Abraham (see Gen 15:6 & 16:8-10).
6. Take a moment of silence as you consider how God is speaking to you. Do you sense an invitation to something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps
