Deeper Theme: Marriage is a divine institution that shouldn’t be approached without a sense of holiness.

So, then, is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?

• No!

• Why not?

• God made them one flesh!

Did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce?

• No!

• What did Moses do?

Do all those who got divorced for other ground than “porneia” live in adultery?

• Can adultery [breaking the marriage] be committed multiple times?

• Can adultery be an ongoing reality?

• Is adultery the unpardonable sin?

Why is re-marriage tantamount to adultery?

• If the one who initiated the divorce gets re-married, he/she brakes the marriage.

• If someone marries the one that has been divorced, he/she breaks the marriage.

• What if the one who has been divorced gets re-married, does he/she break the marriage?

What are the implications of “causes her to commit adultery”?

• The sufferer of the injustice is not blamed.

• Shield the Vulnerable…! Don’t jump on someone who just got separated!

• The dignity of the abused is protected: (the former husband was not allowed to get her back after she got remarried - Deut. 24:4)

Is divorce something that should happen when “porneia” is involved?

• Forgiveness is something that should always happen!

• A broken wedlock can be mended by God’s grace!!!

What if someone divorces his/her spouse and never re-marries, how long will the other person be bound?

• As long as the wedlock is not broken…

• Does someone initiate a divorce because she/he wants to keep the wedlock unbroken?
