Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.
1. Pray for the needs of your Life Group, for our church and our leaders, for personal and corporate renewal, and to allow God’s word to transform us. Share a recent entry from your Life Journal with the group.
2. The text for the message this Sunday was Gal 2:6-14 and the focus was hypocrisy that stems from the desire for good opinion of others more so than living out the truth of Christ’s gospel. What thoughts or questions did the message raise for you? Which thoughts or points encouraged you or posed a challenge to you?
3. Read Act 15:1-31 to review the background and the instructions given to the non-Jewish believers with respect to ceremonial worship rules. This event is called the Jerusalem Council. What questions or observations arise out of this text for you? What relevance does this text has for Christ-followers in KW in these times?
Acts of the Apostles 15:1-31 NLT

4. Read Gal 2:4-14 out loud. Discuss what stands out to you in this passage.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines hypocrisy as “a situation in which someone pretends to believe something that they do not really believe, or that is the opposite of what they do or say at another time.”
Can you define hypocrisy in simpler words? Based on vss. 12 & 14, what is the hypocrisy in Gal 2:4-24? What is the cause of this hypocrisy?
5. How did the hypocrisy of Peter (and others) threaten the truth of the gospel? Think of current examples of your own “additions” to the gospel or your own inconsistency of believing one way and behaving another way.
What is at the root of such hypocrisy?
6. Take a moment of silence as you consider how God is speaking to you. Do you sense an invitation to something new? What concrete steps of response do you want to take? How can your group support you in these steps
