Guilt is feeling bad about what we’ve done. Shame is feeling bad about what we are.

Christ died for the guilt of our sin. But Christ didn’t just die for the guilt of our sin. He died to heal our shame.

The Top 10 Things we want you to get from this series.

#1--You are in a War.

So really, this first point is an encouragement to embrace a Biblical worldview and believe what Jesus said, that there is a war for your soul.

#2--God is not your Enemy.

LISTEN, THE HUMAN TENDENCY TO DISTRUST GOD IS THE MOST BASIC TEMPTATION, THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL LIE. The biggest lie that we’ve believed—its not what we believe about us—it’s the lie that God is less. God is less than the gospel declares.

#3--Community can lessen your shame.

#4--Life has its Defining Moments. The ancient Greeks had two words for time: chronos (χρόνος) and kairos. The former refers to chronological or sequential time, while the latter signifies a moment of opportunity, a time to take action; a moment when God is revealing something or stirring your soul, and your future hangs in the balance, based on your response.

YOUR FEELINGS OFTEN REVEAL THE TRACKS OF SHAME AND THE FOOTPRINTS OF THE ENEMY UPON YOUR SOUL.
Strategy 1-ignore your heart and live from your head
Strategy 2-follow your heart. Problem is shame makes what is not real seem real
Strategy 3-let your heart reveal your shame and let the Holy Spirit redefine your identity from Gods truth.

#5--Your Life Can be Redefined by the Cross. Your past does not define you, your feelings do not define you, what has happened to you does not define you, Christ and his cross define, more accurately re-define you.

No human being can answer your soul question. If you don’t get your ID vertically, you’ll go shopping for it horizontally. If you shop for it horizontally, you’ll never find LIFE.

#6--You must recognize the LIES you’ve believed.
SO WHAT ARE YOUR LIES?
If you don’t recognize your lies AS LIES, you’ll be crippled. The LIE will continue to control you. So deal with your stuff, or it will deal with you. We tend to repeat what we do not repair. Pain that’s not transformed is transmitted.
