Implications of the Kingdom of God: The Concept of a Kingdom

Matthew 6:24–25 . . . “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Matthew 6:31–33 . . . “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
I. Our priority is to seek a Kingdom, not a religion

Matthew 6:33 . . . Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you.

A Kingdom: is a government that exercises the governing influence of a King over his territory to align it with His purpose, His intent, and His personal will; in order to produce values, morals, and a lifestyle that results in a shared culture that produces the King’s desire and nature in His citizens in order to faithfully represent Him in His domain.”

Ephesians 3:9–11 . . . and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Righteousness: a legal term for what you do, not a religious term for holiness. It means to be in a rightly aligned relationship with the governing authority so as to qualify for the right to receive all governmental privileges.”

Micah 6:8 . . . He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to “do” justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Proverbs 21:3 . . . To “do” righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

2 Timothy 3:16 . . . All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

II. We were specifically created for Kingdom Rulership on Earth

Genesis 1:26 . . . Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

The Implication of the Kingdom – We were created to bring Heaven to earth, not to bring earth to heaven.

John 17:13–19 . . . But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth. 20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word.”

Revelation 1:5–6 . . . and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Revelation 5:9–10 . . . And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall “Reign On The Earth.”
