RECAP: The Church isn’t a building or a service, it’s the people on the mission of Jesus together. One of the terms used for this group of people is that they are a spiritual family. Church isn’t a building you go to, it’s a spiritual family you belong to. As a spiritual family we are to encourage, challenge, love, support, forgive, be devoted to one another. We are to have each other’s backs. We need each other and we were never meant to follow Jesus alone. You need others and others need you and we’re better together.

QUESTIONS:
(1) What are some of your best family memories? Who’s your craziest relative?
(2)What’s the best part of being in a family? Most challenging?
(3)When we begin a relationship with Jesus, we become part of a spiritual family. Read Hebrews 10:24-25 and Romans 12:10. What does this tell us about how this family should interact with one another?
(4)As a spiritual family we are in this life and on mission together. How can we “better together” in accomplishing what God has for us?
(5)We all have a part to play in the family and every part is important. Read 1 Corinthians 12:18-21, 27. What does this have to say about your role and the importance of each part of the family (“body”)? How should this give you encouragement?
(6)You need your spiritual family and your spiritual family needs you. How can you take a step (or another step) to engage in this family?
(7)Who is one person in your spiritual family that you can encourage, support, forgive, challenge this week? What will you do?

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, help me to play my part in this spiritual family. I want to be someone who encourages, supports, forgives others and I need others who will do that for me. But, I know I have to engage. It’s up to me. Help me to do what I know is best for me, even if it’s out of my comfort zone, and help me to take a step into this spiritual family. Help me to identify a specific step to take and give me the courage to take it. Amen.
