Part 5: Love Beyond the Expected (Care 2)
Most Christians do not believe it is possible for them to engage in a life of personal witness for Christ. That is why 90% of followers of Jesus will never share their faith once in their lifetime. Over this 8-week series will simplify the faith-sharing life down to three practical elements - Praying, Caring and Sharing. Every one of us can pray for lost people! That is something 100% of Christians can do easily. If we pray for lost people regularly we will naturally develop a deeper desire to care for them. And there is no way we can grow in caring for them without ultimately wanting to share with them. Together we will learn how to cooperate with God and others to bring lost people one step closer to Jesus!

Way to care for your neighbors

The example of Dorcas (Acts 9)
Adorning Ourselves and the Gospel with our Good Works

In Titus 2, Paul describes 3 groups of believers whose actions adorn the Christian message positively or negatively

In verses 3-5, Paul addresses older women in good works “so that the Word of God will not be dishonored (v5)

In verses 6-8, Paul address young men in good works “so that the opponent (unbeliever) will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us (v8)

In verses 9-10, Paul addresses slaves or family servants in good works “so that they will adorn the doctrine of God in every respect.” (v10)

Titus 2:11 is the conclusion of this section showing that our good works in the world mysteriously participates in the communication of the Gospel, offering God’s grace to the world.
Care-witness starts with our character and then naturally moves out through our actions (1 Peter 2:12)

Ways to care for Co-Workers

Instead of eating lunch alone, intentionally eat with other co-workers and learn their stories

Make it a daily priority to encourage someone who does good work

Bring breakfast once a month for those in your department

Make every effort to avoid gossip

Be a voice of thanksgiving, not complaining

Ask someone who others typically ignore if you can grab them a soda or cup of coffee while you are out

Be the first person to greet and welcome new people

Learn people’s names and the names of those in their families

Lead the charge in organizing others to help co-workers in need

Promise (and follow through) your prayers when a co-worker expresses needs

The Cone of Prayer-Care-Share
Prayer: Something I do frequently
Care: Something I do occasionally
Share: Something I do as opportunities arise

The Danger of Care
While talking to others about Jesus without showing the love of Jesus can be a danger, the greater danger is to show people the love of Jesus but never share with them in words how they can have a personal relationship with Jesus.
