I Choose- Week 4- Important Over Urgent
We are the result of our decisions. While we agonize over little things like what to wear and what to eat, are we glossing over the big choices? There might be more on the line than you thought when you say “I Choose.” This four-part message series helps us learn to be intentional about the choices we make. We'll cover topics like surrender, urgency, and priorities.

I actually have enough time for what I choose to have time for.
The things that continuously demand our time are rarely the things that are most important.
Martha was so distracted by the urgent that she missed the important.
“But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.”
- Luke 10:40a
“She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?
Tell her to help me!’”
- Luke 10:40b
The issue is that our misplaced priorities cause us to miss what’s important!
The problem with investing in the urgent over the important is that you always reach a point of diminishing returns.
Your greatest danger is letting the urgent things in your life crowd out the most important.
The problem for Martha wasn’t that she was focusing on something bad. It’s that she allowed something good to stand in the way of something great.
“Sabbath becomes a decisive, concrete, visible way of opting for and aligning with the God of rest.”
- Walter Brueggemann
“Be still, and know that I am God!”
- Psalm 46:10
Don’t allow your misplaced priorities to pull you away from God. Don’t be a slave to the tyranny of the urgent. Don’t let the world to define how you should live. Look to God and choose the important over the urgent.
