Part 4: Love Beyond the Expected (Care 1)
Most Christians do not believe it is possible for them to engage in a life of personal witness for Christ. That is why 90% of followers of Jesus will never share their faith once in their lifetime. Over this 8-week series will simplify the faith-sharing life down to three practical elements - Praying, Caring and Sharing. Every one of us can pray for lost people! That is something 100% of Christians can do easily. If we pray for lost people regularly we will naturally develop a deeper desire to care for them. And there is no way we can grow in caring for them without ultimately wanting to share with them. Together we will learn how to cooperate with God and others to bring lost people one step closer to Jesus!

The Example of Dorcas (Acts 9)

The DESCRIPTION of Dorcas (v36)

She is a believer who continually abounded with kindness seen in her making clothes for widows (v39)

Widows without family to take care of them were often left destitute (Mark 12:41-44; Luke 7:11-15)

As a result, the church’s responsibility to take care of widows was taken seriously (Acts 6:1; I Timothy 5:1)

She was an example of Proverbs 31:20
The DEATH of Dorcas (v37)

She suddenly became sick and died (v37)

They washed her body but instead of burying her immediately they laid her body in an upper room (37)

They send for Peter who comes immediately from the city of Lydda which was nearby the city of Joppa (v38-39)

Peter arrives and a group of widows, weeping, take him to the upper room (v38-39)

They show him the clothes Dorcas made for them (probably wearing them) [v38-39]

Acts 9:40-42 - Peter sends them all out of the room Dorcas is raised and shown to the widows alive (v40-41)
