Family Sunday!

Locations & Times

The Boys and Girls Club

560 N Rupple Rd, Fayetteville, AR 72704, USA

Sunday 9:54 AM

Sunday 10:45 AM

Psalms 68:5-6

My objective:
1. I want to encourage and empower you in ______________ and in your ___________ familial bonds.
Why Family Matters

1. Family is important in shaping our culture, because family is where people learn to see and contribute to culture?
2. Our experience with family has long lasting implications on. Our view of self, others, and God.
3. The concept of us being family, brothers and sisters in Christ, spiritual mothers and fathers to those seeking loving mentorship, is a model set by Jesus and Paul. (You Are What You Love)
4. For the church to see and treat each other as family moves us to a deeper level of connection with each other that manifests the love of God to the world. I honestly believe every human being is seeking the type of family community espoused in scripture but my questions is are we as believers of Christ modeling that to the best of the ability that Holy Spirit gives us?
5. The Strength of family any family connection, nuclear families, extended families, and definitely the church family has to find it foundation in that God is our heavenly Father and that our relationship with Him should move us in our bond with one another must be rooted in the Kingdom of God.
Satan has always been against God’s concept of family from the beginning, and he still seeks to break down any type of family connection. (Gen 3:15)
"The tragedy today is that many Christians think they are fighting flesh and blood in their marital and parenting issues, rather than realizing that Satan has an agenda to destroy their home. Whoever controls the family controls the future."

Family In the Old Testament

Deuteronomy 6:1-9

The Nuclear Family-House

bayiṯ (‘house’) which, from signifying the group of people, probably came to refer to the dwelling

sheltering under the same roof

Proverbs 22:6

The Extended Family-Father’s House

bêṯ ’āḇ, ‘father’s house’
Extended families were significant in a couple of ways.

- They may have shared in a family business together.
- They were also considered military units for protection.
- They also had legal rights to help maintain and protect the family’s property if one fell into economic hardship.

Family In the New Testament

Matthew 12:46-50

Galatians 6:9-10

The war against “isms” can only be won when people who love God passionately come together as the family of God and love each other tangibly.

Genesis 1:26-28

Joshua 24:14-15

Ephesians 3:14-15

“People were more than 50% more likely to say that their church’s congregation is their most significant group than to say that God represents their most important personal connection. That certainly reflects the interpersonal comfort that millions of people have developed at their church, but also indicates that people may have forgotten the ultimate reason for belonging to a Christian church.”
Our Family bonds should be visible demonstrations of the Kingdom of Heaven

Ephesians 5:31-32

John 13:35

Being in family like bonds helps us develop a sense of who we are.
