Faith Church Kansas
The Problem of God Series || April 22, 2018
There are many people who want to believe in God or at the very least are curious about God, yet have tough questions or doubts that have yet to be addressed. We hope to shed some light on those very subjects over the next several Sundays, starting April 1. We certainly don’t pretend to have all the answers, but hopefully, we can point people in the right direction and create a safe space for them to ask their questions. We plan to cover topics like: The Problem of the Christ Myth; The Problem of the Bible; The Problem of Hypocrisy; The Problem of Sex; The Problem of Hell; The Problem of Evil & Suffering.

Message Title: The Problem of Sex
God gave us SEX for pleasure.
SEX is best when it's surrendered.
LIFE CONNECT QUESTIONS

Let’s talk it over! Change happens when we apply what we learn and share it within the community. Answer these questions so you can share with your Connect Group or talk it over with a personal friend.

The Problem of Sex. One of the reasons people don’t like Christianity is because of what the scripture teaches about sex. So what is the deal with sex? Why does God seem so uptight about it? Or are we just getting it wrong?

CONNECT IN CONVERSATION. [Conversation starters for your group.]
• Many people make assumptions about what God teaches about sex and sexuality. What are some of the assumptions you’ve held (or heard)?
• One of the big surprises for people is that God is pro-sex. Does this surprise you, and if so, why?

CONNECT TO THE WORD. [Read it and talk it out.]
• Read 1 Corinthians 6:12-20. What are some of the concerns about sex that Paul address here?
• Pop Culture would have us believe that our bodies are a commodity. What are some of the consequences of living like your body is just a commodity?

CONNECT WITH OTHERS. [Questions that create openness.]
• Sunday’s message outlined three popular views about sex: sex is bad, sex is god, and sex is appetite. What are the weaknesses of each view?
• Sex does an incredible amount of good and an incredible amount of harm in our culture. How do you think a surrendered sex life creates the best sex life?

CONNECT TO LIFE.
Which ONE of the following will you do this week?
• Memorize 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
• Talk with a trusted friend, Pastor, or Christian Counselor about surrendering your sex life (past or present).

CONNECT IN PRAYER.
God, help us trust you fully. May we not live as our own ‘god’, but rather live surrendered to you. You’ve given us a great gift in sexuality and we want to honor you with it. Help us renew our mind and think like you think. Heal the pain from our past and restore what has been lost. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
READING PLAN
Sex is everywhere. And it can be easy to fall into a trap where we treat sex as a commodity instead of a surrendered part of our life. Search for a reading plans on the Bible App using the key word “sex”. Select a plan that speaks to your life’s stage. Find someone you trust and go through these passages together, because accountability and authenticity are crucial when it comes to this topic
