Never let the presence of a storm cause you to doubt the presence of God.
Real peace is not found in the absence of a storm but in the presence of Jesus!
The pain you endure today, leads to the strength you enjoy tomorrow.
Start Thinking
Ask questions to get your group thinking.
• What did God speak to you through the scriptures highlighted in Pastor Lon's message?
• Have you ever been caught in a terrible thunderstorm? Perhaps there was flooding or hail, or maybe worse... hurricane or tornado? Share your experience.
• In those literal storms, did you reach a point when you gave up all hope?
Start Sharing
Choose questions that create openness.
• What metaphoric storms have you experienced in your life?
• Have you experienced storms in your life that, if you were honest, were brought on by your own actions? Share.
• In the middle of the storms in life do you find it easy or difficult to hear and respond to God's voice? Explain.
• How would your perspective on the struggles you endure change if you understood that Jesus is present in your storm? Share.
Start Praying
Be bold and pray with power.
• Father God, I thank you that the peace I long for is not found in the absence of struggles in my life, but it is found in the presence of your Son, Jesus, in my struggles. God, help me to be still and know that you are there with me in my storms. Help me to hear your voice more clearly. Amen!
Start Doing
Commit to a step and live it out this week.
• Take 10 minutes each morning this week to prayerfully reflect on the storms you have recently endured. Ask God to reveal to you where he was with in in those storms.
• In what ways can you allow God to use the storms that he has brought you through to help others in your life that are currently going through a storm?
