Spiritual or Fleshly?
· Paul stated that all believers are mature in 1 Corinthians 2:6, so why is calling some immature now?
· Paul is now speaking of Christians and contrasting those who are people of the Spirit and those who are people of the flesh
· Whether we are spiritual or fleshly is evidenced by our actions (James 4:1, Ephesians 4:32)
· As believers we are to continually grow – become less fleshly-minded and more spiritual-minded
· The goal of the Holy Spirit is to grow us more spiritually-minded and less fleshly-minded
Milk or Meat?
· The contrast of mature, solid food and immature, liquid food deals with the implementation of God’s truth and wisdom
· Are there 2 tiers of knowledge in the Christian faith? The gospel and deeper things?
· There are NOT 2 tiers of knowledge in the Christian world, the gospel is both the milk and the meat
· The milk is how the gospel saves and gives everlasting life
· The meat is how the gospel transforms us to become like Jesus
· We will never exhaust the truths and the meaning that is contained in the gospel
Walking Like Mere Men or Like Jesus?
· The big question is, are we allowing the Holy Spirit to change us by the power of the gospel?
· Are we settling for a liquid diet (I am saved, going to heaven and that’s it) or are we feasting on the solid food which is transforming us into living the gospel?
· Am I allowing the power of the gospel change who I am?
