“Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.” Proverbs 26:12

FOUR TYPES OF PEOPLE IN PROVERBS

THE SIMPLE

“I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who had no sense.” Proverbs 7:7

The Cure: Time

THE FOOL

“A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes.” Proverbs 10:23

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” Proverbs 13:20

The Cure: Tragedy

THE MOCKER

“Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you.” Proverbs 97-8a

The Cure: God

THE WISE

“Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still; teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.” Proverbs 9:9

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

THREE THINGS ABOUT GOD

God is awesome

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.” Isaiah 40:28

God is holy

“Exalt the LORD our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy!” Psalm 99:5

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29

God is right

“Fear of the LORD leads to life, bringing security and protection from harm.” Proverbs 19:23


When I understand what it means to fear God, I can live fearlessly.
