Rabbi Jesus Following the Teachings of the Master

Rabbi: An official title of honor meaning Master & Teacher

Master: "to go before, guide;" "a master, a teacher,"
Root Word , to lead, command, rule, have authority over

Matthew 23:8 NKJV
But be not you called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all you are brothers.

Christ: Anointed One, Messiah

Matthew 23:10 HCSB
And do not be called masters either, because you have one, the Messiah.

Luke 6:40 CJB
A talmid is not above his rabbi; but each one, when he is fully trained, will be like his rabbi.

A disciple or Talmid in Hebrew is: one who accepts, mimics, and assists in spreading
the doctrines of another.

The responsibility of each talmid was to learn everything that his rabbi would teach. They learned to eat the same foods as their rabbi. They learned to celebrate the Shabbat the way their rabbi did and to perform tzedakah (righteousness or charity) as he taught. They even learned to pray and fast along with their rabbi. They learned how to keep the mitzvot (commandments) of Adonai. The talmidim followed their rabbi everywhere he went reflecting every aspect of his life.A talmid became a living reflection of his rabbi. Once fully trained, some talmidim would in turn become rabbis to the next generation, gathering around them talmidim of their own.

1. What did Rabbi Jesus teach?

The bible records 3 ½ Years of Jesus teaching as a Rabbi.

Jesus taught the people through parables.

A parable in an analogy used to illustrate & instruct principles & lessons

Mark 4:2-9 NKJV
2 Then He taught them many things by parables, and said to them in His teaching:
3 “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. 5 Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. 7 And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. 8 But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
9 And He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Seed came to 4 types of ground

1.Wayside- birds eat the seed
2.Stony Ground- harvest burned by the sun
3. Thorns- harvest choked and no crop left
4. Good Ground- Increased and produced 30, 60 & 100 fold

MARK 4:13 NKJV
13 And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

MARK 4:14-20 NKJV
14 The sower sows the word. 15 And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. 16 These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble. 18 Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, 19 and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20 But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

WAYSIDE:
· Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts

STONY GROUND:

· THEY HAVE NO ROOT IN THEMSELVES

· DO NOT REMAIN & STUMBLE BECAUSE OF PERSECTUION OR AFFLICTION FOR THE WORD’S SAKE

THORNS: CHOKE THE LIFE OUT OF THE WORD

· CARES OF THE WORLD
· DECEITFULNESS OF RICHES
· DESIRES FOR OTHER THINGS

Colossians 3:5B NLT
Don't be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

LUKE 12:15-21 TLV
15 Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on guard against all kinds of greed (insatiable desire to have more), because one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the material goods he possesses.”16 And Yeshua told them a parable, saying, “The land of a certain rich man produced good crops. 17 And he began thinking to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do? I don’t have a place to store my harvest!’ 18 And he said, ‘Here’s what I’ll do! I’ll tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I’ll store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I’ll say to myself, ’O my soul, you have plenty of goods saved up for many years! So take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry.”’20 But God said to him, ‘You fool! Tonight your soul is being demanded back from you! And what you have prepared, whose will that be?’ 21 So it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich in God.”

1 Chronicles 29:1-9 LB
Then King David turned to the entire assembly and said: “My son Solomon, whom God has chosen to be the next king of Israel, is still young and inexperienced, and the work ahead of him is enormous; for the temple he will build is not just another building—it is for the Lord God himself! 2 Using every resource at my command, I have gathered as much as I could for building it—enough gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and great quantities of onyx, other precious stones, costly jewels, and marble. 3 And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of God, I am giving all of my own private treasures to aid in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected. 4-5 These personal contributions consist of millions of dollars of gold from Ophir and huge amounts of silver to be used for overlaying the walls of the buildings. It will also be used for the articles made of gold and silver and for the artistic decorations. Now then, who will follow my example? Who will give himself and all that he has to the Lord?”
6-7 Then the clan leaders, the heads of the tribes, the army officers, and the administrative officers of the king pledged huge sums of gold, silver, and foreign currency, also 675 tons of bronze and 3,750 tons of iron. 8 They also contributed great amounts of jewelry, which were deposited at the Temple treasury with Jehiel (a descendant of Gershom). 9 Everyone was excited and happy for this opportunity of service, and King David was moved with deep joy.

Estimated worth of Solomon’s temple: $216,603,576,000

Deuteronomy 10:16 NLT
So circumcise your uncircumcised hearts, and don't be impossible to deal with any longer.

Jeremiah 4:4A WEB
Circumcise yourselves to Yahweh, and take away the foreskins of your heart,

· Circumcision is literally a sign and mark on the body stamping its bearer as a servant of God.

· God marked the reproductive organ is not an accident it symbolizes that each generation must come though the covenant of circumcision

· In Hebrew the foreskin represented a barrier that kept man from holiness and the Torah.

· When you remove the foreskin, you remove the natural barriers and blockages to spiritual advancement

Leviticus 26:41 GWT
I will oppose them and bring them into the lands of their enemies. Then, if they humble their uncircumcised hearts and accept their guilt,

Jeremiah 9:25-26 LB
25-26 A time is coming, says the Lord, when I will punish all those who are circumcised in body but not in spirit—the Egyptians, Edomites, Ammonites, Moabites, Arabs, and yes, even you people of Judah. For all these pagan nations also circumcise themselves. Unless you circumcise your hearts by loving me, your circumcision is only a heathen rite like theirs, and nothing more.
