Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18 - 20
WHAT IS THE METHOD OF BAPTISM?
IMMERSION
“At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.” Mark 1:9 - 10
“Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized.” John 3:23
BIBLE BAPTISM IS BY IMMERSION
What is the meaning?
The meaning of baptism is the GOSPEL
Baptism pictures the saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.” Romans 6:4 - 5
“For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.” Romans 6:6 - 7
“…Christ died for our sins … He was buried, and He was raised again the third day...” 1 Corinthians 15:3 - 4
“Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.” Acts 2:41
“Surely no one can stand in the way of their being baptized with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” Acts 10:47
“They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household.’ Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.”
Acts 16:31-33
THE MOTIVE OF BAPTISM
“Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, teaching them to obey all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19 - 20a
