The Parable of the Lost Son
1. One son would call himself “The Failure”.
2. One son would call himself “The Faithful”.

The Failure
1. The Prodigal Son thought he was missing out.
2. The Prodigal Son went from a palace to a home and to a pig sty.

The Failure
3. Lessons from the Prodigal Son’s failure
a) He was aggressive about what he wanted.
b) He was decisive about what he wanted.
c) He was willing to do what it took.

The Faithful
1. On the surface, the older brother seems to be faithful.
2. He was in the field instead of in the house.

Don’t live in the Father’s field when there is a place for you in His house.

The Faithful
3. He came in and was amazed at the celebration.
4. The elder brother wanted to come in and go over the rules

The favor of the Father is summed up in one phrase: “Everything I have is yours.”

Robe: restoration, visible sign of full restoration and rights of the son.

Ring: authority, restored to a position of authority. Used to seal documents on behalf of the family estate.

Shoes: freedom, slaves don’t have shoes.
