Serving This Summer
Expand
Summer is right around the corner, and with its sunny days and scorching temperatures comes busy schedules and travel. We are in need of summer volunteers who are willing to fill Sunday morning roles left open by regular volunteers on vacation. If you’re willing to try out a new role in the months of June, July, and August, please contact Tyler at TylerC@ChristCommunityKC.org.
Newcomer Coffee | June 12

If you consider yourself new to Christ Community, please plan to join us at our next Newcomer Coffee on Sunday, June 12. There’s no need to sign up. Just plan on hanging around for a bit after the service you attend to meet with a pastor, hear more about the church, ask questions, and enjoy a local coffeeshop.

CONVERSATION STARTERS – Downtown Campus

TAKEAWAY: What captured your attention in this week’s sermon? What did God teach you?
ENGAGING SCRIPTURE. Read Matthew 13:1-8, 18-23. As a group, summarize the first three types of soil. How do you see them in our world? How do you see them in your own heart?
CLARIFYING DISTINCTIONS. Gabe opened Sunday’s sermon by suggesting there is a difference between merely listening to Jesus’s words and hearing Jesus’s words. How do you would you define the difference?
CONSIDERING OUR COMMUNITY. Only the last soil bore fruit. What kind of fruit do you see in our church and in your own life?
CULTIVATING A FRUITFUL HEART. Gabe concluded Sunday’s sermon by pointing out that we cannot make ourselves good soil. It is Jesus (the Gardener) who does this cultivating. How does this encourage you? How does this confuse you? What do you see as our responsibility?
