Centennial Covenant Church
Why the Cross? Part 1
If you were from another planet visiting our community, one of many questions might be what's this "+" symbol on buildings, jewelry, tattoos and all over? If a Christian told you "it's a cross," and then explained that it's a reminder of the bloody execution of an ancient man that was God making all things well, I bet you'd say "that's crazy!" The cross of Christ IS kind of crazy. That's what the Apostle Paul acknowledges in the Scripture we'll explore this Sunday (1 Corinthians 1). And yet the cross is also eternally necessary and practically powerful for every day living. It's absolutely central. That's what we'll consider this Sunday, as we begin a pre-Easter worship focus and sermon series: Why the Cross?

About Centennial Covenant Church
We are a growing congregation of friendly people seeking to be Christ-centered and people-caring. Together we take seriously...
- The Bible as God's powerful and relevant truth
- Jesus Christ as the way to hope and life
- Building up people (not just programs and properties) as the heart of mission
- And a freedom not to take ourselves too seriously, but to laugh, be honest, and "agree to disagree" on non-essential matters in a spirit of humility and love.

We take to heart what Jesus said: "I have called you friends" (John 15:10). Knowing the gift of a relationship with God and then letting Him build relationships with each other is finally what matters most in life.

Our mission isTo glorify God by following Jesus
on a shared journey of transformation
in His mission to our broken world
