Healing What's Broken
Philippians 4:13
Christ came to save us from sin and give us new life that anticipates being with Him eternally and living in ways that impact every area of our life right now. As Christ followers, our marriage can become an opportunity for broken individuals to know His forgiveness and to find healing through a correct response, first to Him, an then to one another.
So How? How can we heal what is broken?
1. Let go of the myths.
Myths such as:
We (my spouse and I) expect exactly the same things from our marriage.
Everything good in our relationship will only get better.
Everything bad in my life will disappear.
My spouse will make me whole.
2. Admit your are powerless. 2 Corinthians 1:9
A second step to restore your marriage is to admit that you cannot manage your marriage problems on our own.
3. Pray for your mate, yourself, your marriage. Psalms 27:14
If your mate or your marriage is to be rescued from the kingdom of darkness you must continually fight this battle in prayer. Jesus has given you authority over all the supernatural power of the enemy.
4. Adjust your expectations practicing Agape love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

5. Resist the enemy. 1 John 4:4
6. Focus on changing yourself. Matthew 7:3-4
It's always easy to look at the other person and see how they've disappointed us, to see what they've done wrong in the marriage.
7. Seek support. Ephesians 5:18-21
Successful Christian marriages are grounded in a spirit-filled, worshiping community.
8. Rebuild Trust.
While rebuilding trust, a truly repentant spouse will show evidence by taking the initiative to restore trust in the marriage.
