Mercy Forgives
Matthew 6:12 (pg.580)
“forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.”

Matthew 6:12 (NLT)
Mercy: Undeserved forgiveness and unearned kindness.
Mercy means God wants to forgive me.
“Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.”

Micah 7:18 (NIV)
God freely forgives me.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.24 Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.”

Romans 3:23-24 (NLT)
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”

Colossians 2:13-15 (NLT)
Forgiveness Quiz - True or False

Forgiving includes minimizing the offense & the pain caused. T F
Forgiveness includes restoring trust & reuniting a relationship. T F
Forgiveness is not conditional.

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT)
Forgiveness is not forgetting.
“Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm, but the Lord will judge him for what he has done.15 Be careful of him, for he fought against everything we said.”

2 Timothy 4:14-15 (NLT)
Forgiveness does not always mean trusting the person again.
“Be careful of him, for he fought against everything we said.”

2 Timothy 4:14-15 (NLT)
Forgiveness is releasing it to God.
“Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm, but the Lord will judge him for what he has done.”
“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”
