Daniel Dilemma - Week 2

Daniel Dilemma - Week 2

As we walk through our daily lives, it can feel like we are constantly besieged with competing messages through our televisions, radios, social media, and even our friends and family. The fact is, the enemy has an agenda and uses culture in an effort to influence the way we think and feel. So how do we navigate a culture that is constantly shifting its core values? Come learn through the life of Daniel how to respond with grace and truth in a shifting culture.

The Daniel Dilemma
Week 2: The Babylon Mentality
Dwight Nash
February 18, 2018

Babylon’s motto: “I am, and there is none besides me.”

Elevate self.

• Self-adoring.
• Self-building.
• Self-indulging.

Lower God
.
• "God doesn’t love me."
• "God isn’t for me."
• "God wants too much from me."

Sanity Restored

1. "I will exalt God."
2. "I will acknowledge God."
3. "I will humble myself."
Small Group Questions

• We can either set the culture or reflect it. Which do you do most frequently? Discuss the reasons for this.

?• Social Media can be a slippery slope towards a self-adoring lifestyle. How does it invite a Babylon Mentality? What are ways you can protect against these dangers?

?• Does humility come easy for you? Do you have a Biblical understanding of it?

?• How can you talk more about God’s successes in your life and less about yours?
Resources to help Families and Couples talk about Jesus & Faith @Home Together!
#prayWordgrowserve

• Share with each other one thing that stood out to you in Pastor Dwight's sermon.

• Pastor Dwight talked about the "Babylon Mentality": a selfish, "it's all-about-me" way of thinking. What are some examples of selfishness that you see at school, at work, at the grocery store? When do we struggle most with selfishness?

?• Refocus: How do we refocus our attention on God? What are specific things we can do this week (as a couple or as a family) to keep God first?

?• Pray together: Take time to thank him for loving you. Thank Him for all He has done and continues to do for your family. Ask God to help you and your family make wise choices and honor Him in everything you do.
