Christians are called, by the will of God, to live holy lives together with other believers.
The predestined grace of God saves us from satan, sin, and death and calls us to a life of holiness in the context of community.
The local church is a community of believers, organized under qualified leadership, that gathers regularly for preaching and for worship; they observe the sacraments, practice church discipline, and seek to fulfill the great commandment and the great commission.
Positional sanctification occurs when we trust in Christ alone for salvation, then we are forgiven, set apart as God’s holy people, made into a new creation, and are therefore seen as holy in God’s sight.
We must strive to become what God said we already are.
Those who have truly been converted love Jesus, and if you love Him you want to obey Him as He calls you to holiness.
Christian community is the soil in which a christian grows.
1) This introduction points us to Jesus so that we can be like him.
2) The Corinthian church may have looked like it was falling apart, but the God of the universe, the one who sustains all things was holding them together.
