Becoming a Bridge to the Weary
“What’s on your mind, ________?”
We’re WEARY because of UNCERTAINTY.
So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:41 – 42
What CERTAINTY can I build into my life?
ABIDE
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
RENEW
But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray. Luke 5:15 – 16
CONNECT
…as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. As I remember your tears, I long to see you, that I may be filled with joy.
2 Timothy 1:3b – 4
WORK
So what do people get in this life for all their hard work and anxiety? Their days of labor are filled with pain and grief; even at night their minds cannot rest. It is all meaningless. So I decided there is nothing better than to enjoy food and drink and to find satisfaction in work. Then I realized that these pleasures are from the hand of God. Ecclesiastes 2:22-24
To Build a Bridge to the Weary — Our WAYS speak louder than our WORDS!
And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47
