Authority of Jesus

Mark 4:35-41 WNT
35The same day, in the evening, He said to them, "Let us cross to the other side." 36So they got away from the crowd, and took Him—as He was—in the boat; and other boats accompanied Him. 37But a heavy squall came on, and the waves were now dashing into the boat, so that it was fast filling. 38But He Himself was in the stern asleep, with His head on the cushion: so they woke Him. "Rabbi," they cried, "is it nothing to you that we are drowning?" 39So He roused Himself and rebuked the wind, and said to the waves, "Silence! Be still!" The wind sank, and a perfect calm set in. 40"Why are you so timid?" He asked; "have you still no faith?" 41Then they were filled with terror, and began to say to one another, "Who is this, then? For even wind and sea obey Him.

Luke 8:24-25AMP
24 They came to Jesus and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are about to die!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging, violent waves, and they ceased, and it became calm [a perfect peacefulness]. 25 And He said to them, “Where is your faith [your confidence in Me]?”

Wind(Anemos) :wind, a violent agitation and stream of aira very strong tempestuous wind

Silence: "to close the mouth with a muzzle"

Jesus has the authority to silence the roaring of violent storm

Jesus had already given the word or command: “Let us cross to the over side”

Always remember that the enemy comes for the words sake.

Mark 4:17: “when affliction or persecution arises for the word's sake”

Jesus had just finished teaching this parable when He said let us cross over to the other side for this is what I see my Father has authored for us.

Authority: the right to enforce, maintain, possess all God has authored

· Jesus silenced this storm with a word of Authority!

Psalm 107:28-30 ISV Yet when they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, the Lord brought them out of their distress. 29 He calmed the storm and its waves quieted down. 30 So they rejoiced that the waves became quiet, and he led them to their desired (purpose) haven.

· There is an authority that comes from Jesus for you to do your purpose!

· There is not an authority to do something Jesus has not authorized for you.

· Authority backs up with power what is legal, just and true.

Don’t try to manipulate God to bless what you are doing especially if it is not in agreement with His Word (Torah), instead align yourself to be a part of what He is blessing!

FINALLY JESUS ASKS THE DISCIPLES AN IMPORTANT QUESTION:

WHERE IS YOUR FAITH? WHERE IS YOUR CONFIDENCE IN ME?
WILL YOU PUT YOUR FAITH AND CONFIDENCE IN THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS?

WILL YOU TRUST HIM AS TO HELP YOU CROSS OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE?

JOHN 5:24 NIV
"Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

· JESUS IS THE GOD OF THE CROSSOVER!

ABRAHAM CROSSED OVER IDOLATRY AND THE EUPHRATES RIVER TO WORSHIP THE ONE TRUE GOD

THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL WERE DELIVERED FROM THE BONDAGE OF EGYPT AND CROSSED OVER AND THROUGH THE RED SEA

JOSHUA TOOK THOSE BORN IN THE WILDRENESS AND CROSSED OVER THE JORDAN TO POSESS THE PROMISED LAND THAT GOD HAD AUTHORED FOR THEM.

WHEN JOHN BAPTIZED PEOPLE FOR REPENTANCE IN THE JORDAN THE PEOPLE WERE CROSSING THEIR CULTURE BACK INTO THE WAYS OF YAHWEH

WHEN A PERSON ACCEPTS CHRIST THEY ARE CROSSING OVER FROM THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS INTO THE KINGDOM OF LIGHT.

IT IS THE AUTHORITY THAT COMES FROM GOD THAT YOU CAN WALK IN BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH!

Matthew 8:5-10 MEV
5 And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, entreating Him, 6 and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home, sick with paralysis, terribly tormented.” 7 Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”
8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But speak the word only, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this man, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard it, He was amazed and said to those who followed, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith, no, not in Israel.

What was the Centurion’s faith connected to?

· THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS AND HIS WORD

LUKE 10:1,9-12, 16-20 MEV After this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two by two ahead of Him into every city and place where He Himself was about to come. 9 Heal the sick who are there and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 10 But when you enter a city and they do not receive you, go your way out into their streets and say, 11 ‘Even the dust of your city which clings to us, we wipe off against you. Yet be sure of this, that the kingdom of God has come near to you.’ 12 But I say to you, it will be more tolerable on that Day for Sodom than for that city. 16 “He who listens to you listens to Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.”
18 He said to them, “I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

John 5:19 MEV
19 Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do. For whatever He does, likewise the Son does.

· Jesus did what He sees the Father do, and we do what we see Jesus do!

Matthew 28:18-20 MEV
18 Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
