Stuck - Part 2

Stuck - Part 2

There will come a time where each of us will experience what it's like to be "stuck" spiritually. Maybe we don't feel as close to God as we used to, or maybe we feel we aren't growing in our faith. What if we could get a jump start?...a bit of help to get moving again? The Stuck series will explore five of the main catalystsGod uses to grow our faith,no matter the season in which we find ourselves.

Stuck - Part 2 [January 14, 2018] Kevin Deming

To grow spiritually, we need to connect with people who are growing spiritually.

Catalyst: an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action.
–Merriam-Webster
The five catalysts God has given us to get going…

· Practical teaching
· Providential relationships
· Private disciplines
· Pivotal circumstances
· Personal ministry
This week's focus:
PROVIDENTIAL RELATIONSHIPS
Growing spiritually doesn't happen when we know what Jesus says. It happens when we apply what he says. Application happens best within the context of community. To grow spiritually, you have to be connected relationally. - Northpoint Community Church
To grow spiritually, we need to connect with people who are growing spiritually.

Acts 9:26-27

Acts 11:25-26

Acts 15:36-41

The differences between these two giants of the faith were not rooted in pride, personal ambition, or offended feelings, they were rooted in different spiritual gifts, outlook, and calling.
- Robert L. (Bob) Deffinbaugh

3 Types of Relationships:

1. Mentor: A Paul is someone who will lovingly speak the truth to you,
even at the cost of hurt feelings.
2. Friend: Barnabas is known for being an encourager.
3. Mentee: Timothy is known for his pursuit of spiritual truths and wisdom.

To grow spiritually, we need to connect with people who are growing spiritually.

Their words carry almost as much weight as my wife’s words. Why? Because they’ve invested in me, and they’ve earned the right to speak into my life. God works through each of the relationships in our lives. He uses a Paul to guide us. He uses a Timothy to help us mature. And He uses a Barnabas to challenge us. In response, we should always be learning, teaching and loving.
- Dave Ramsey

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
