Matthew 1:21-23 ESV

I invite you to look at three unique aspects of the way He came to us!

1. Prophecy (as a fulfillment of and to fulfill).

2. Paternity (Fatherhood).

3. Poverty/ Pauperism

1. Prophecy (as a fulfillment of and to fulfill).

When Matthew tells the story of God coming to us as a baby, he carefully shows that Jesus came to fulfill prophecy, and He quotes Isaiah 7:14: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel…

Isaiah’s prophecy about the coming of Immanuel was given more than 700 years in advance! But that’s just one of them! McDowell affirms that the Old Testament contains more than 300 messianic prophecies! When I look at those prophecies, I can’t help but admit: No one ever came the way He came!

The Greek word “parthenos” really means a virgin! The virgin will have in the womb… but there’s no earthly father there…! Matthew 1:18 says: …before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.

This Immanuel has no human paternity. He is not a mere man! He is God with us with a clear purpose: 21 ...you shall call His name JESUS (Yeshua = Yahweh is salvation) for He will save His people from their sins.” A mere man couldn’t save us from our sins!

It took God… God Himself came to us as a man… What a mystery, what a marvel, what a miracle! No one ever came the way He came!

Matthew 1:18 ESV

Most of the religion founders came from some sort of upper class. Jesus is not the founder of a religion; He came as a reformer of Yahweh’s religion. The Jews had high expectations regarding the Messiah! In their view, He should’ve had a strong start! But no! He came differently! He came down from glory…

He came down to each human being! Down to the last! Down to the least! Down to the lost! From the throne to the manger… in order to take us from the manger to the throne.

Please make sure you legibly print your first and last names and address (including apartment number) on the tithe envelope every time you turn one in to keep our records current.

We have several families with the same last name, so if you want to have an accurate tithe report at the end of the year, please be specific regarding your name and address.

If we can't read your name or you don't give us an address, unfortunately, we can't provide you with a tax receipt.
