SAMSON
Lessons from Old Saints
SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS
1. Read Ephesians 1:3-6. What does it mean to be chosen by God? What responsibilities does that bring, and what freedoms does that bring?
2. Samson had a purpose that was defined for his life before he was even born, and took a Nazirite vow to set his life apart in the service of God, but yet frequently made decisions that were in conflict with that. This is not an uncommon thing in today’s world either – where we seem to be ok making decisions that conflict with our decision to follow Jesus. Why do we think this is the case? How do we rationalize making these decisions, and why is that a dangerous thing?
3. Brian said that God will never be thwarted in achieving His purpose, and that we get to decide whether or not we will glorify Him through our lives or not. What do you think about this statement? How can we glorify God in our actions and in our relationships? What are some things that you need to start doing differently in order to better glorify God?
4. Repentance is an important part of our relationship with God. What are some things that you have been chasing or allowing in your life because they “seemed right in your eyes” that you need to repent of and move away from? If you’re comfortable, share these things with some or all of your small group and invite them to hold you accountable in this goal.
